Will
this fit on a throttle-body car?
Currently, the answer is no, although
we are working on developing a converter
that will work for these cars.
What will affect my fuel economy?
The Flextune bi-fuel converter has no
effect on the operation of your vehicle
while in the gasoline mode.
Therefore, your fuel economy should remain
the same in this mode. In the ethanol
mode, your fuel economy will vary based
on the blend. (ie E85 85% ethanol, 15% gasoline
or E100, which is unblended) Your fuel economy
will largely be affected by the condition
of your engine, how well tuned it is, and
your selection of motor oil, and/or additives.
Your driving habits also play a role in
your fuel economy, along with other factors
such as wheel alignment, tire condition,
and pressure. The single most influential
factor is your engine design the
size, the compression ratio, and the type
of aspiration. In other words, your fuel
economy will vary from car to car.
How can I increase my fuel economy while
using ethanol?
You can increase your fuel economy by
making sure that your car is well-tuned
and using quality motor oil and/or additives.
You need to ensure that your vehicle alignment
is correct, and your tire condition and
pressure are correct. You can also alter
your driving habits; reducing idle time,
quick takeoffs, and high-speed driving.
Do you have a bi-fuel converter that
will work on carbureted cars?
No, Flextune bi-fuel converters are
currently designed for multi-port fuel injected
cars.
Can I convert my carburetor to use ethanol?
Adapting your carburetor to use ethanol
will require replacing or oversizing your
jets. This should be done by a trained technician.
The downside to this is that your car will
only be able to run on ethanol. If you attempt
to use gasoline after the jets have been
oversized, your car will run poorly, and
your fuel economy will be terrible.
Can I transfer my Flextune bi-fuel converter
to another vehicle?
This will depend on a number of factors.
The car you are transferring the converter
to must have the same ohms resistance, polarity,
and connector type as the car from which
it came in order to ensure proper operation.
We do not recommend transferring the bi-fuel
converter, due to a number of factors including
potential damage to the unit during removal.
Is this something I can install myself?
Our bi-fuel converters are designed
for the simplest installation; however,
depending on your make, model, engine size,
and mechanical skill level, you may want
to consider a professional technician for
installation. Some models will install quickly,
and others can take hours. The number one
determining factor is the accessibility
of the fuel injector connectors. (ie. The
GM 3.1 liter engine requires the removal
of the upper plenum in order to gain access
to the injector connectors. Other engines
will be similar.)
If you dont have my exact connector
type, can I still use your Flextune bi-fuel
converter?
Yes, in most cases a qualified service
technician can hardwire the Flextune bi-fuel
converter to your car, regardless of your
connector type. You will still need to ensure
the ohms resistance and polarities are correct.
The polarity can be manipulated by the trained
service technician during the hardwire installation.
Will this work on my diesel engine?
No. The Flextune bi-fuel converter was not
designed for the diesel engine.
